How does the system work?
You are likely to be addicted or playing Riot’s MOBA League of Legends if you are reading this article. League is undoubtedly the most popular online game right now. According to statistics sites such as Newzoo or ESCharts, lol ranks first on Twitch on a monthly basis.
The game’s rapid growth has been praised by older players. League’s design/narrative teams and marketing sector have all contributed to the approximate 115 million monthly active players worldwide.
That is another topic. You are here to learn about the League ranking system, how it works and what the ranks mean. League offers a public leaderboard on each server/region, similar to other competitive games.
This competitive element is known as “ranked”, and ranking games will impact your position on leaderboards. You also have the option to display the relevant crest for your rank on your profile. This information may be seen by your friends and others on public databases sites like op.gg. Ranked games can be compared to Summoners Rift Draft Mode, which allows you to play five against five and fight it out in order to defeat the enemy Nexus. These games should not be taken lightly, as your rank is at stake and so is the rank of your teammates!
League of Legends allows players to compete in the ranked mode of the game and earn a chance of winning a ranked border. This will appear on the loading screen and party creator screens.
You have the chance to earn one the nine ranked borders during the Leagues current seasons. You will start in Iron and can climb up to Gold if you win your placement matches. If you win games and keep your win rate high, you will be able to climb up to Challenger. You’ll see different borders as you climb. This list will help you quickly identify which border corresponds to which Tier.
These are the League’s ranked borders.
According to League of Graphs, Iron is the lowest tier of the ladder. 2.2 percent of players belong to this tier. Iron I is home to half of the Iron players. Riot suggested that there should be more tiers at both the bottom and top of the ladder in order to reduce the number of players from Bronze and Masters.
According to League of Graphs data, Bronze I has 20 percent of the players while Bronze I has most of them. This was the last tier players could reach by losing games prior to Iron’s introduction.
According to League of Graphs, Silver has 37 percent of all players. 9.7 percent is concentrated in Silver II. This is due to new accounts that are created after placings.
Gold was the tier that players wanted to reach, as it provided them with a Victorious skin to celebrate their achievements. League of Graphs estimates that around 27 percent of players belong to this tier.
Platinum is home to 9.8 per cent of the players in this tier. This is the middle tier that many players seek after. This is the first step to Diamond. Five percent of players sit at Platinum IV.
Diamond V was the most popular in the past. Many players were declassified to Platinum I, while others rose to Diamond IV. This tier includes around 1.5% of players, with Diamond IV at 0.68 percent.
Master is the highest tier without divisions. If players earn more than 100 LP they can be promoted to Grandmaster. According to League of Graphs, this tier includes 0.12 percent. After reaching this tier, players often begin to look for opportunities to play in professional League leagues around the globe. This is an excellent place to find new talent in the region.
Grandmaster is the highest ranking tier in League and has the most competitive and skilled players in the region. To reach Grandmaster, players must have at least 200 LP. There are limited slots, depending on which server, so that is not all there is to it. To be promoted to Grandmaster, the player must earn 200 LP. This tier is only available to 0.31 percent of players.
Challenger is the second highest tier of League. This tier is home to most professional players and solo queue stars, making it a highly competitive area. To become Grandmaster Challenger, players must have 500 LP. You may also have limited slots depending upon the server. If a Challenger slot is available, the player must overtake the one who has already reached the LP threshold. leagueofgraphs.com shows that only 0.13 percent of players belong to this tier.
